>In ancient Greece, a slave was working on a farm when suddenly, Socrates approached him with a curious look on his face. The slave felt uneasy, knowing that Socrates was known for his philosophical ponderings. He wanted to continue working but couldn't deny Socrates' request for a conversation.

>Socrates started off by asking the slave if he knew what he was doing. The slave, slightly taken aback by the question, replied that he was simply working. Socrates then went on to ask him what it meant to "work" and if he truly understood the purpose behind it.

>The slave was confused and told Socrates that he had never thought about it before. Socrates then delved deeper, asking him if he knew the meaning of life and what it meant to be truly free. The slave tried to answer to the best of his ability but found himself struggling to keep up with Socrates' complex questions.

>Despite his confusion, the slave found himself enjoying the conversation. He had never thought about these philosophical concepts before, and Socrates' musings were giving him a new perspective on life. However, he couldn't help but feel the urge to return to his work.

>He tried to interrupt Socrates, telling him that he needed to get back to work, but Socrates was too lost in his own thoughts to notice. The slave tried again and again, but Socrates continued to ramble on, unaware that he was preventing the slave from working.

>Finally, after what seemed like hours, Socrates came to a stopping point. The slave was relieved but also slightly annoyed. He had lost valuable work time, and Socrates didn't even seem to notice. However, he couldn't deny that he had learned a lot from their conversation.

>As Socrates left, the slave couldn't help but wonder about the philosophical concepts they had discussed. He realized that there was more to life than just working and surviving. He felt a newfound sense of purpose and began to see the world in a different light. He was grateful for the interruption, despite the inconvenience.

>He was notoriously ugly, having a flat turned-up nose, bulging eyes and a large belly; his friends joked about his appearance. Socrates was indifferent to material pleasures, including his own appearance and personal comfort. He neglected personal hygiene, bathed rarely, walked barefoot, and owned only one ragged coat.

I want to get into philoshpy and somewhat have an idea of who to read in what order to ultimately get to the more modern stuff specifically german. But im wondering what you guys think about who is worth reading in a chronological order from socrates through to the 1800's. I have about 8 hours a week I can dedicate to reading and dont mind it taking a few years to get there.

I want to learn how to oil paint as a final goal, however I think first it would be better to learn the basics of drawing and other aspects.

I have very low experience in art I’ve done some pieces before , however they were usually just other designs but altered in some way.

Why do Platonic concepts-themselves have any actual value besides as mental categories? Why is the idea of justice more than just the idea of the (material) neurological state perceived as justice by humans, as the idea of material things?
