Enlightenment is an act of deception (Adorno). It is deception, because, we become "enlightened" towards a certain set of laws and facts which only serve to fulfill a purpose. What is meant by this. We carry within ourselves an understanding of the world, and that Understanding serves to grant us with a base utility by which we operate in favor of the State. We provide Utility to the State up until the point of departure (death), after which we have done all to fulfill our duties, and because of the fact that a human being produces more than he consumes, and is exploited in that he is provided only with enough wealth to provide him enough leisure so as to provide an excess Utility (Marx), he effectively builds up the State and the capitalist enterprise as a whole before the point of departure. General Formula: Force and the Understanding unite to create Propaganda, a tool for Enlightenment, which leads to create Deception in the "un-conscious" individual, which allows them to provide Utility. This builds the State.

What are the best contemporary philosophy books? Fuck speculative realism and accelerationism. We need a radical change of perspective first instead of riding out the old inaccuracy...

Has anyone read Adrian Johnston? I am interested in his Prolegomena to Any Future Materialism and A New German Idealism... As an amateur philosopher aspirant who has engaged previously with Lacan, Badiou, and Zizek (amongst others), I feel Prolegomena... seems an important work combining secondary commentary on my (post-)modern interests and primary material I am interested in (Johnston as transcendental materialist). Apparently, however, it does not treat Zizek. And the meat of the constructive argument for transcendental materialism is found in the yet unreleased second volume. Zizek is treated extensively in A New German Idealism, however. Unfortunately, exclusively. Yet at that point, why not just get Less Than Nothing and receive straight from the well.

Idk. My reading experience of L, B, & Z is mostly limited to Ecrits, Metapolitics, and The Parallax View. I suppose Being and Event might be interesting too. Or the Essential Zizek trilogy.

But in any case, I have also read Kant's Prolegomena and Critiques, Schopenhauer's World as Will and Representation, Schelling's Philosophical Inquiries into the Nature of Freedom, Hegel's lectures on history and religion as well as Phenomenology of Spirit, and the majority of Freud, Marx, and Nietzsche.


Oh, and I have heard good things about The Dash and Plasticity, Temporality, and Dialectic too!

My personal philosophical geneaology is Deleuzean, Nietzschean, Hegelian, Platonism, and Daoism. Unfortunately, few Lacanians (despite usually combining the middle three) deal with D&G or oriental shit.

Some books I've enjoyed lately include How to Change Your Mind, Waking, Dreaming, Being, The Boddhisattva's Brain, Hegel and the Infinite, Mythologies, A Lover's Discourse, and The Shortest Shadow.

I am a continental theorist at heart trying to measure out autistic analytic categorization so I can play the Glass Bead Game properly when I go to grad school here in America in the hopes to one day be a manic pixie dream theorist. Upon such day, I will commence my synthesis of analytic and continental and east and west and atheist and theist. Alas, I am poor and can only afford a few extracurricular books per semester. :'(

I think there are also threads of this same tension in Deleuze as well. I think it simply might be impossible to overcome Hegel; after all, what is Hegel but the logic of overcoming?

What is your approach to Hegel’s Phenomenology? Do you read it front to back? Sometimes I just read a few lines at random and spend the rest of the week in a schizo haze

Is madness the same thing as enlightenment? For a brief moment of my life, I was reading pic related, mainly the section entitled "self-alienated spirit," and for once I began to see the world as composed of singular objects, all of which could be exploited to fill a certain need. The world, I deduced, was filled with tools, and it was simply a matter of deciding whether to exploit them or not. Eventually this filled me with a profound sadness, as I saw other people fall into pre-conceived belief systems that should've been dispelled long ago. I was worried that I would fall into the same trap that they had yet again; it was so comfortable being ignorant in that sense. My mania culminated in this sadness, and they took me in to the psych ward. Did I experience enlightenment? Or was I simply a failed project? I can't understand pic related anymore (I'm on meds), at least not on the deep level that I did during my "descent into madness." Perhaps I was simply being-for-self, and not being-in-itself, and was obsessed by the notion of wealth for some time, i.e. the exploitation of individuals. But I did realize that this was a notion to be dispelled. Am I merely an NPC (a meme, I know)? Is there any hope for me? If so, where do I go from here?

Why can't I form thought-pictures? Do I come into actual being through self-isolation from culture; I am a product of culture, yet it seems alien to me. Yet I still can't properly interpret ANYTHING. Why couldn't I have just been born a normie? Or is there a piece of the puzzle I'm still missing? I can actualize myself outside into an object, make it into my own, and thereby make a change in the world. I assume it just takes time to cultivate the skill... but it takes so long. This middle path I seem to have strained upon forever, and now it seems I am doomed.
