>“I say that males and females are cast in the same mold; except for education and custom, the difference is not great. Plato invited both without discrimination to the fellowship of all studies, exercises, functions warlike and peaceful occupations, in his commonwealth. And the philosopher Antisthenes eliminated any distinction between their virtue and ours. It is much easier to accuse one sex than to excuse the other. It is the old saying: The pot calls the kettle black.”

Was Montaigne redpilled?

Just started his essays after watching a ton of videos and podcasts about him. I like his essays a lot so far, very thought provoking. I find myself reading about 5 pages a day of him but reflecting on the essay the rest of the night and the following day, and even weeks after reading it in some cases.

Anyone else read Montaigne? What did you think? Any particular favorite essays or excerpts?

Just got this, what am I in for? The only other philosophy I've read is Nicomachean Ethics, some Plato dialogues and Seneca and Aurelius's key stoic texts, and I loved all of them
