Are there any good introductory materials for contemporary philosophy, or does the fact that it's contemporary make writing about it in a useful or complete way impossible? Is it even worth looking into?

Should I read the book before viewing the film?

I've already read V., The Crying of Lot 49, Gravity's Rainbow, and Slow Learner, so I am pretty familiar with Pynchon's style. But I am worrying about the book outshining the film, causing the film to be disappointing.

So, film or book first?

I have an idea for a project.

Every day, there is a thread for two pages of Gravity's Rainbow.

We then try to decipher as many things as we possibly can from those two pages. After around a year, we will have a complete collected analysis, sentence by sentence, of Gravity's Rainbow.
