I have the same issue.
I was reading Plato yesterday and noticed I kept forgetting the names he wrote two pages prior.
I remembered how I could memorize poems at school and 15 minutes music cello sheets up to 18yo.

Memory is worse and worse and I'm only 32.
Taking notes is probably a good way of reading. Having a little notebook and copying the parts you enjoy the most. Maybe notes in the margin of the book itself.
I should but I don't because I read in my bed, half asleep and half drooling on my pillow. Which is a ridiculous excuse. I'm just lazy.

Here is a picture of a dude taking notes in his bed because the rest of the search shows women. Unfortunately it's not real notes, just screeching on a glass that makes light.
