Considering how central memorization is to the understanding of literature, are there really any habitual readers that can't just remember what page they last read? I thought everyone read like that.

This is also acceptable.

Does supply and demand really exist or is it just a convenient false explanation for business owners to parade around when they raise prices?

Here’s the basis:
Less of a commodity = higer price
More of a commodity = lower price

Now, I could see the reasoning in charging more money for a product as it increases in rarity. However, when examining the inverse it all falls apart. If the primary purpose of business is to make money for its shareholders then lowering the price in a surplus is almost asinine. It’s not like the general public will know when an oil company has struck an extraordinarily large oil pocket, so why lower the cost? Wouldn’t it be more smart to store the oil and continue to sell it at large prices? And if you run out of storage then why not rent more until you run out of the surplus oil? The cost of the oil would offset the storage rental and bring in a larger profit if you just kept the original price.
I think that supply and demand could largely be a product of deception

I always hear politicians and armchair-politicians say “X society is successful becuase their population is happy, Y population is unsuccessful becuase their people are in despair.” Is that really the ultimate goal of politics? Population happiness? They rarely speak about anything other than happiness or economic condition (which can be related back to happiness becuase a better economy equals happier people). There has to be a deeper goal of government than happiness.

And if the entire point of government is happiness then wouldn’t several small communist states (that compete with each other economically and have different laws and such) with an administrating federal government be the best choice?

If God is perfect then why did he make the universe? If one says that he made the universe to conjure evil then God is not perfect because his perfection relies on the existence on the existence of sin. (Side-note: if God is incapable of sinning then why is he capable of creating sin?) If one says that he made the universe becuase he loves us then he is not perfect becuase his perfection relies upon having those to show his love to. If he created us out of his want then doesn’t that prove his is not perfect? This is becuase only beings who lack something want, and if God is perfect then he is incapable of want.

What is the most /lit/ language? By that I mean what language allows for the best descriptions of abstract concepts while also allowing for dense and powerful imagery?
