It's a stupid way to classify ideologies/political leaning. Worse, people call themselves leftists or right-wing.
It has a lot of problems, you could say nazis were right wing, but then someone will tell you they wanted state capitalism so it's leftism, but then someone will say they are nationalists so they are right wing, and then someone will argue that nationalism isn't leftist/right-wing and so on and so on.

Communism is the same, is it lefti-wing?
Communists in the USSR hated leftists to the point leftists rebelled in some regions and they got fucked.

People should say "I'm liberal/conservative/traditionalist/socialist/communist/anarchist" but not leftist or rightist. It cause a lot of confusion.
