Are there any mystery or thriller books worth reading even if I'm not into genre fic? In the same way as BotNS and Gormenghast

Everyone knows the most iconic opening sentences of books, but you rarely see discussion about the best final sentences except for pic related (I know technically the sentence is way longer but fuck off you know what I mean), so let's post some books with god tier closing sentences.
I'll start with pic related and Stoner

What are some of the greatest single chapters in literature?

What are some books that everybody likes? Also on a side note, does anybody have some more /lit/ Apus they want to share?

Try listening to some quiet music like Jazz. I actually find that depending on how you position yourself really helps (I enjoy lying on the floor). Also, I would recommend reading over pages you feel like you skipped, and never stopping the book midway through a chapter. No matter how many chapters you read a day, NEVER CLOSE YOUR BOOK ON AN UNFINISHED CHAPTER. It is a good discipline to learn, I find.

Is it possible to enjoy the works of Homer without knowing a lot about Greek mythology? Is it easy enough to follow?
