What author made you really get into reading and why? For me it's Cormac McCarthy, the way he describes settings, events, and things simply wows me every time. In contrast, I also love how simple, yet realistic a lot of his dialogue is as well.

I don't remember reading any book of his that didn't depress me
i've read : the road , child of god , blood meridian , no country for old men
i'm not american and the old west doesn't entice me too much that's why i didn't start the border trilogy yet
is there hope ? i get that he likes to write about the darkness inherent in the human psyche but it's just too grim and it makes me feel like shit
write what you think about him and the works mentioned i'd love to read what you guys think!
my favorite is NCFOM by far the most entertaining followed by BM even though i didn't enjoy reading it at all because i needed someone to care about that wasn't a scum next is the road which was really good but my least favorite was child of god , i remember just praying that it ends soon
