What's the difference between attending Liturgy in Slavonic or Aramaic and attending Mass in Latin as an English-speaking American?

Today a dude approached me in the philosophy section at the library. He asked if I was looking for a particular book and I said no.
He then asked what philosophy I like and I responded "stoicism".
Then he said he liked existentialism better.
Then I said I don't like existentialism much.
He laughed and said

He then left right after saying that, not saying goodbye or anything. Weird guy.

They say you should "write what you know" but at what point does self-inserting aspects of your life become too self-indulgent and too obvious? I mean obviously you shouldn't make an autobiography or make a ridiculously idealized version of yourself but is it really so wrong to base the main character off of yourself and the story off your life experiences, since you know yourself better than anyone else?

Wouldn't similar myths that tell the exact same thing corroborate the Bible instead of devalue it? I mean, even if the exact details are unknown, the two ancient writings suggest that things like the Great Flood really did happen in the history of the planet.

I've been reading since I figured out how to. Literally anything I could get my hands on when I was little. My dad used to read to me, and used to read a lot himself, maybe I just learned to want to read through osmosis. Later, I didn't have any friends, so I read. Then when I was bored, I read. Now I read whenever I have free time, and sometimes when I don't. I just love reading.

Well if it really were God himself telling me to do this then I would have to assume that he has a very good reason, and that such an act will be beneficial to a greater good. I know that God is good and doesn't dabble in wanton cruelty, so he isn't doing this just for laughs. It's the same situation as 'if all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?' Yeah. Were it just one friend then I wouldn't follow him, but if this entire group, whom I have known all my life and know to be perfectly sane suddenly commited this extreme act, there would have to be a good reason behind it, and I would follow them even if I myself did know what this reason was.

Art is about expression, and if you want to express something transgressive, complaints of that nature are simply a sign that you've succeeded.

Depict violence towards anyone you like.

If they criticize you for this, then tell them that art imitates life, and that violence towards women, minorities, and everybody else is a fact of life, and an unavoidable part of the human experience - that these topics must be dealt with in different ways in order for different people to come to terms with them, and that if they find your work distasteful, then they are under no obligation whatsoever to read or endorse your book.

But that they have no right whatsoever to tell you what you can or cannot write, and that you are under no obligation to give their judgements even the most fleeting of considerations.
