If you like conservative German authors I recommend you read Reinhart Koselleck. He is probably the last great conservative historian of that country, as he studied before the "Denazification" of German universities made them submissive to Anglo-American liberal thought. "Critique and Crisis" is considered his main work and even leftist historians consider him important, I remember reading him in college, unlike any other conservative historian, though they downplay his politics and focus on his contributions to conceptual history.
