i let my 8 year old nephew play Morrowind today and he had trouble reading most words. he wasn't even trying to sound out stuff he didn't know, he would just guess based on the beginning and end of the word.
for example, he saw the word "inventory" and read "invention story..." what the fuck? how does that even happen? can someone who knows about reading and shit actually explain that?
the amount of times i had to tell this kid "just read. just look at it and read it" was insane, gen alpha is completely fucking cooked, their brains are fried, he was literally too lazy to read words in a videogame.
when i was six years old i was playing Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Windwaker and the like, reading every single word of text, exploring rich fantasy worlds by myself with no outside help, and absorbing it all like a sponge. on the contrary, this fucker has to be spoonfed every other word or else his brain just shuts down.
