I could recommend you books that will make you an hero.

Try reading Ligotti's Conspiracy or anything by Emil Cioran.

H-he's wrong, right? I'm barely smart enough to digest the book, so I can't come up with a good rebuttal against it. Can someone smarter than me tell me why existing isn't that bad?

Is there a more depressing book? I finished it and absolutely empty, wasn't prepared for the feels. Definetly not a wise decision to read it during my therapy.

I think I found it in a threat like this one actually. "What's the most fedora book you've ever read?" And it was posted, so I downloaded it and read about half of it. Absolutely terrible. Even if you are a nihilist (an ultra-edgy one or not), this is not the kinda shit you should read. There is a long section on Lovecraft at the end, though, which might interest some people. I didn't read it. One of the few books I didn't finish.

I'm interested in a certain type of literature referred to as 'theory fiction' and/or 'para-academia.' It's like when the subject blends fact and fiction to the point where it's indistinguishable.

>here's kind of an example
But also, this genre is more related to 'philosophical horror' though, although the writing style is similar to the fiction theory genre.

I can barely find any links about 'fiction theory' so I can't find many book titles of this genre.

What do you think of authors that go out of their way to spell out their vision of the world?

Take Ligotti, for example. Would it not be enough to express your pessimism and antinatalism just in your fiction? Must you really write a long-winded, fedora-tipping tirade like "The Conspiracy Against the Human Race" in which you try to put it as plainly as possible?

I don't think books should be written for everyone. And Ligotti's Conspiracy is a prime example of a book potentially written for everyone, and the end result is, in his case, a distillation of edginess that makes me feel second-hand embarrassment while reading it.

When you try to put your thoughts in a plain and easily comprehensible form you abandon art for the sake of pseudo-philosophy. The best books aren't so straightforward, and so in a sense they aren't written for everyone. The reader must be, to a certain extent, a kindred spirit of the author in order to understand him. And to all those who don't share this spiritual kinship the book will say nothing, or almost nothing.

I just got done reading this and I'm interested and picking up some more modern non-fiction. What are some of the best essays written in the last 15 or so years? I'm thinking getting into art history, but any subject will do as long as its well written

What are some good books that are "edgy" but actually really good?

What I mean is, books about pessimism, psychological deconstruction, etc.

Pic off google, never read it so don't think I am asking for recommendations like this in particular.
