Whoever recommended Meddling Kids, you are approved to suggest books to me in the future. I'm nearly halfway and finally getting hooked. I wish I had the author's way of descriptions and metaphors.

There are some okay self-published things. I read a novella--that ended up being a short trilogy--where the MC was something like a demigod trying to find his memories or some such and it turns out that he was the artificial biological creation of someone from another dimension, one of a handful of similar creatures. Literally had NANOMACHINES in his bloodstream and reinforced <supermetal here> bones.
I liked it. There is a LOOOOOOT of shit on Amazon though and I wish we had any Amazon-core charts.

On another note, Eye in the Sky by PKD seems like the only Twilight Zone-esque novel of his I've read so far.

Also I wonder what was up with that one early lighthouse interlude, talking about it being a bad thing that people would show up coming from the Origin but that people would show up regardless.

I just finished Axiomatic by Greg Egan and now I am reading a novella by him called "The Four Thousand, The Eight Hundred". I am only three chapters in so I cannot tell if it is any good. I have two of his other short story collections next up and I am hoping they match up to Axiomatic.
I am exceedingly fortunate to have a group of tight-knit, non-judgmental adults I can communicate with in my graduate department and my life would be full of much more darkness if it were not for them lighting my way.
