I liked and enjoyed his shorter works very much. Netochka Nezvanoma, Notes from the underground, Summer winter smth... It was wonderful, amazing, hard to describe in words but it was really really good.

With his so considered masterworks not so much.
I finished c&p from 3rd or 4th try only after dropping it several times and coming back later. I was truly thankful I finished it and although i didn't understand much of it but after I was done somehow I felt that I become a bit smarter and better as a person. I thanked myself for sticking with it through and it all felt that it was hard work that paid of.

Idiot, tried 3 times - failed 3 times.

Now reading brother karamazovs 4th time. 200 pages in there are parts of the book that I really enjoy and other parts where it's just plain boring and painful to read. It seems as work that might pay off when i finish it and I will thank myself. I kinda doubt myself if I should continue. Is it supposed to be like work? - hard and boring read but eventually pays off. Is this normal? Did you felt the same?


P.s. I'm not really following some of the plot. Whats going on between the father, Dimitrij, Grushenka, and Katerina Ivanovna?

how do i read his books without feeling like a barnes & nobles pseud?
