It was just ok. Moved in the boomer book pace, where characterization is very small, and it jumps from event to event without much transition. The world building and plot were both fine. Like the ideas were interesting. But it just wasn't told in a compelling way. I can't say it's bad, but I'm going to opt out of the sequels. Unless you say it gets better?

Also, it was kind of ridiculous how everyone kept badgering Vanye with questions he had no answers for. A lot of the drama was carried on the back of Vanye not being able to answer questions to the satisfaction of anyone. Got kind of old after a while.

But if someone is looking for a nice little adventure book, I'd still recommend it.
