You can follow what he's saying in excerpt, and if you think of it as applying to worldbuilding a fanstasy planet it's less grating: you can imagine the little aliens using the jargon as their own language and not having to show regard to prior human conceptions the stupid neologisms replace. Also easier to suspend disbelief in the retarded cosmology; in a fantasy world it becomes romantic and to a degree intriguing, when applied to actual life it's pap.
