Then you are still A FUKCING PLEB, you must read for the pure enlightenment of your soul and nothing else, dispensing with all other hobbies and interests.

>tfw to intelligent too go on goodreads
I can barely handle the pseuds on here, how could I ever handle the most base plebs in the world of literature? Goodreads is more cancer than r/books

Nothing sad here, buddy. Stoicism is the most meme philosophy, however.

Confederacy of Dunces.

I got memed.

Moral of the story: Just because it's someone's magnum opus, doesn't make it good.

>Stop whining about popular literature being popular, you fucking contrarian

It's not contrarian to point out that anything popular is, with rare exceptions, bad.

It has to be - how else will you appeal to the lowest common denominator, who also comprises the lion share of Human society?

Ironically, with the democratisation of education, fewer people now can read the Classics or other great works than was the case when education was much more exclusive.

de Maistre is often peddled as some sort of hyper-reactionary, when in reality he was a hyper-Machiavellian and the king of Realpolitik. In terms of evidence, you could look toward his defence of Napoleon — particularly, the fact that he was prepared to overlook the fact that he was a despot, as well as the trouble he caused for the RCC, because he was able to restore order.

Berlin's lecture is pretty good:

Like Evola, he is completely misread by /pol/, assuming they read him at all.

Candide

It is philosophy-esque but divorced of all pretension and riotously hilarious. Some say Voltaire wrote it simply as a protracted fuck you towards Leibniz.

>They should have banned all Americans for sure.

Why?

Pretty much all of the victims described the perpetrators as being of Middle Eastern/African extraction.

Maybe, but they're also well-educated. If the Hitchens brothers are sophists, Zizek definitely qualifies.

I read Fanged Noumena and it struck me as incredibly conceited. Around halfway through he also seems to have a fucking stroke and spam brackets/etc.

I don't think he's our guy.
