The kantian principal that "the only thing good in itself is a good will" is the echo of what i said above about doing good and being kindly to all not for their sake or your own sake but for G-d's sake. This isn't Christianity, this is just godliness. Not taking any gods but G-d means sacrificing anything to the will of the LORD. If you are called to do righteousness, do it and give thanks.
