In Finland most suburbs are pretty nice. I think it's because people usually buy the plots of land from the real estate devloper and then build a house there, whereas in the US the suburbs are built as a whole by the real estate corporation, leading to soulless identical houses. It's even worse in third world countries where they really have reached pinnnacle soullesness.
