Ladies and lads, at the ripe young age of 29 it has occured to me that I must become a poet. What books will enable me to become proficient in the art of neatly arranged words so that I shall illuminate the dimness of the fallen western civilization?

So, my literary assignment in psychology requires coming up with defusing hostage situations.
So far, I've come up with only one scenario

I can't think of any other scenario that isn't weebshit tier.
What are some functional scenarios that I can use?
Also should my protagonist be a detective or some doctor that the police calls for to defuse the situation? I'm not really into crime dramas so I can't decide.
