These are pretty par for the course in American public schools for 14 year olds and up, sometimes even a bit earlier depending on where they're at. Of course, there's often more an emphasis on neoliberal Neo-African lit like A Lesson Before Dying or To Kill A Mockingbird. I agree with Fahrenheit 451 and the Philosophy/Classics you listed but honestly I think trying to force people to read is misguided at best. The entire educational system should be reformed along Ignatian and Mycenaean lines.

Irish people are one of the few Northern European demographics to sustain a post-industrial campaign of terrorism. Children should immerse themselves in their respective literary folkway, wherever that may be. In my case I grew up in Mississippi and my parents made sure I didn't forget the Delta I was born inside while still cultivating an aristocratic mindset that was a fruit of my germ rather than a negation of it.
