I always wanted to make my own game but the dev process requires you to be a jack-of-all-trades if you go indie, or to just be loaded and pay others to do everything.
As for a /lit/ game: Rule of Rose is pretty good. Mechanically I think it's shit and wasn't play-tested before released, but the story and atmosphere are top-notch. It could loosely be compared to Lord of the Flies but with girls instead. I think the director of the game said his inspiration was a fear of girls and their vindictiveness when he was a child.
