Is it possible to have meaningful communication in that language? I feel like it's the quintessential version of "it sounded better in my head", where you know what you meant to say with those words, but the potential for ambiguity with such a restricted vocabulary means that others may not understand, or even misinterpret, what you said.

Hits too close home...
I do have ideas, but never sit down to write them. I only collect notes and half-assed fragments. I ruminate on ideas for so long, that they start going off the rails, and I lose track of the spark that inspired them. I only ever finished one story (years ago) but never made a second draft for it. I used (years ago) to feel ill if I went on too long without writing. It was really more about catharsis than anything, but what I wrote wasn't terrible.
Nowadays I don't feel anything anymore. It's a shame. It's not that I hate writing, it's just that I'm too easily (and willingly, self-sabotage is based) distracted by the "mundane tedium", as you said. I'll write something tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
