in the § 17. Heidegger analyzes what is a sign and what is its function in everyday life, and his definition of it changed my perspective of the world. He roughly defines it as a indicative thing which illuminates the surrounding world around a specific information. Said like this, it will probably not be clear, but i felt something which changed my way of seeing signs. And in fact, i understand B&T as a system of signs (not in the sens of a linguistic definition) which illuminates existence around specific points, be it death, sociality, conformism and social norms, relation to the world, tools, everyday work, the self and identity, etc.

Heidegger gives conceptual tools to understand life, it systematises what human life is and what does it mean for us to be in our everyday life. And another thing i like about b&t is the way it made everyday life a truly philosophical domain worthy of inquiry, but most importantly it dignified everyday life and showed its true beauty. I personally have a weird aesthetical relationship with the world and b&t made me see the world with a new lens, allowed me to see its true beauty. in fact, i see b&t as a deeply poetic work, it is written in a beautiful style really. I really don't understand how anyone can say of this book that it's cold while all of its words are so "warm", i really "felt" many words and concepts. Heidegger's concepts are concepts you can instantly relate to.

Being and time is one of my favorite works of philsophy and i already know i'll spent my whole life reading and trying to see the world through its deep lens. I truly hope others persons can feel what i felt reading it, and get for their life what i got for mine out of it, because i think philosophy is to be shared with someone else

Anyone have a nonfiction book that is actually mindblowing? I've read 600 books and every single book I've read has just been kinda eh. At most the reaction is "hm interesting". Even when reading philosophy the philosophers are just writing 600 pages on stuff that we have already heard before. It's nothing that makes you "go holy shit my life is changed". At most it's just like "hm interesting". Like even history/politics. Oh really the US committed crimes in the past. Is this supposed to be mindblowing. This shit has an effect on you? Oh man we're being watched. Really? Would have never guessed. I've never seen one book that one could actually make someone have an intense reaction.
