With that in mind, I recommend pic-related. It was written in the early 90s during the AIDs epidemic by a former exotic dancer who went FTM tranny around 2010. Brite doesn't shy away from the degenerate and resentful aspects of homosexuality and, given the brief bio above, has a unique perspective when it comes to treating the human body as an object.

The book is a love story between two serial killers in New Orleans (one modeled on Jeffrey Dahmer and the other Dennis Nilsen). It's genre fiction but it's done well and elevated by Brite's skill as a writer. The first chapter is wonky but it gets better as it moves along.

That's the plot of this book (they're fags based on Jeffrey Dahmer and Dennis Nilsen though). It was much better than I expected it to be; Brite, an ex-stripper who became an FTM tranny 20 years after publishing EC, writes degenerates very well. Aside, if you check it out and think the first chapter is too fantastical--stick with it because it becomes much more realistic and grounded for the rest of the story (if you're familiar with Dahmer, she lifted a scene straight from one his murders as part of the climax).

One of the characters in this book is based on him (the other is based on Dennis Nilson). It was better than I expected it to be (even with all of the gay shit). Figures a former stripper/future FTM tranny would write degenerates well.

It's a horror novel written by a stripper who eventually went FTM tranny. It's a lot better than I expected it to be (especially once you make it through the first chapter). The plot is inspired by Jeffrey Dahmer/Dennis Nielson and deals with themes of sexual perversion/sadism and was written at the height of the AIDS epidemic. It's genre fiction, but it's elevated by Brite's surprisingly decent prose and ability to bring out some of the depth of the subject matter.

As far as homoeroticism goes...it made me cringe as much as some of the descriptions of gore did (given your request, you might like that shit though...for me it was uncomfortable).

It was surprisingly good. Former stripper/eventual FTM tranny writes about homosexual degenerates in New Orleans (heavily inspired by Dennis Nilsen and Jeffrey Dahmer). The only supernatural shit is the first chapter (bullshit trance/meditation shit) but it's still considered horror.

You're sassy--are you sure you're not just full-on gay? Brite was a stripper in New Orleans and got into writing. She wrote extremely graphic horror novels (American Psycho, to use a widely read example, is tame compared to her shit) throughout the 90s but dropped off significantly. Also...she isn't a dyke. About a decade ago, she had FTM sexual reassignment surgery (but remained married to her husband). If anything, her fucked up psychology when it comes to her sexual identity informs her work and it's all the better for it. She isn't Virginia Woolf but her skill elevates her work (she's a lot better as a writer than someone like Anne Rice or Stephen King). Honestly, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't check her out. Start with pic.
