I want to get my boomer father a book for Christmas. The last book he read was probably The Fountainhead in 1980 or so. He spends most of his time watching Fox News to get angry at "liberals" and watching car auctions. He is around retirement age but can't stop working for financial reasons. He seems sometimes deeply sad and afraid of the way the world is going. I want to get him a book he will actually want to read, something thought provoking and challenging, but mostly comforting for him. I considered 12 Rules for Life for its accessibility, but the self-help aspect might turn him off and I want to give him something with more integrity than a Jordan Peterson book. DO you have any reccomendations, lit?
