you know that's LITERALLY how rupi kaur buys books? I'm serious, she only looks at the art, and when she finds a "book she really likes", what she praises is the designer, not the writer.
Needless to say she never reads them.

also, good luck finding a better cover then pictured, literally impossible.

Faulkner is an absolute madman.

How did he do it?

Also, did Jason want to FUK Miss Quentin?

I'm coming back as a prodigal son.

About 2 weeks ago I wrote here a pathethic post, saying that after 8 pages I threw that book away, repelled by its style.

Then some of you wrote why you liked it and although I was still in a denial, your opinions got me thinking. I've waited couple of days and started once again.
It was hard, it was nothing I've read before, but after finishing it today I appreciate it greatly. I enjoyed how it challenged my reading habits and how I was able to find a sense in its chaotic narration, especially in the first 2 chapters.

I guess the day when I started it first time wasn't my best.

Is all Faulkner's work that different and experimental?

Am I a pleb for not liking it?

I've just read couple of pages and threw it away. I used to get along well with american 'classics' (generally said), but I just couldn't get a hold of it. I guess that was Faulkner's intention, but fuck you William.

What are your honest thoughts on this book?

>Then I laid it face up on the table and took Mrs Bland's letter and tore it across and dropped the pieces into the waste basket and took off my coat, vest, collar, tie and shirt. The tie was spoiled too, but then niggers.

What did the esteemed William Faulkner mean by this?

Is there a certain 'term' or 'genre' for books that are focused around a person / groups loss of power, respect, dignity, reason to live, ect.

I feel as if there is but I can't put my finger on it.

Just finished this.

I really really liked it. Grasping at straws with Benjy's chapter, and just piecing a little more together at Quentin's, made the twisted anger in Jason's part all the more impactful. Jason's anger at Quentin's high flying put Quentin's chapter into a new light, while the last chapter made Benjy's idiocy and obsession with Caddy even more tragic and sad. I'm going to have to re-read it for sure.

I've read Soldier's Pay before this, and now moving on to Absalom, Absalom!

What does everyone think of TSTF, and of Faulkner in general?

So I'm getting into this book and I don't understand what in the fuck is going on in this first portion.

Is the narrator literally retarded or something, like what the fuck? The keep repeating words over and over like a fucking retard, I fucking can't read this. Is Faulkner retarded?
