Fantasy: Malazan Book of the Fallen
Sci-fi from the past 28 years is a mystery to me.
Also, if you want good prose and storytelling you probably shouldn't read sci-fi or fantasy.

Anyone else feel like the Malazan Book of the Fallen series could have been great but because Erikson got lazy and bored it turned out just adequate?
I wonder how the Karsa Orlong books are going to be.
