OP this is exactly why the Church exists, and why Sola Scriptura and the Priesthood of All Believers are really, really dumb ideas. The Bible can, indeed, be interpreted in a myriad of different ways; any book that's read by lots of people can be. Look at all the ways people interpret Ulysses or The Sound and The Fury, for example, and those are books whose writers actually discussed what they actually meant. The problem is compounded in a book like the Bible, which is both old and is actually composed of different books by different writers collected and composed throughout centuries.

This is why Jesus, rather than writing a book of his own, founded the Church. The Church alone has the divinely-given authority to correctly interpret Scripture and to accurately spread the Gospel to the far corners of the Earth. When you stray from the Church's interpretive authority, you wind up with weird shit like Pentecostalism and the Prosperity Gospel.

tl;dr: fuck Protestants.

It means that Archbishop Lefebvre was right, and it's time for the Latin Mass to make a comeback.

One thing that has been really refreshing among certain circles of Catholics, including in the United States, has been a gradual recognition that the American "project" of absolute individual liberty and extreme devotion to the making of money is incompatible with genuine Roman Catholicism. The Catholic Church and the United States are like oil and water. Not every Catholic has realized this yet, but many have. They are competing powers and only one of them will survive, in the end.

I just feel like we're going to need more than sheep in the decades to come. There's a bunch of crises that are cascading together all at once; climate change, obviously, but also crises of legitimacy in almost every government in the West, and a huge debt burden in almost every advanced country. These can't be put off. We have to deal with them very soon.

I'm a Millennial and I assume my generation's going to have to do most of the heavy lifting of these issues, but it would be nice if the Zoomers could be counted on to pitch in.

>How do I choose what church I should go to?

The Church, capital-C, is universal. Every Mass celebrated in every church is effectively the same, and they all mean the same thing. Go to the one whose priest gives the homilies you most agree with.

>What books should I read?

I'd recommend starting with Augustine's Confessions.

>Will people think I'm strange?

>From that time on, many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him. So Jesus asked the Twelve, “Do you want to leave too?”

>Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God.”

>Can you still have fun once you convert?

You can't have casual sex or other things, but you can still have fun. You need to broaden your definition of what "fun" is.

>How long does it take?

About a year.

>Whats everyone's experience with the Church in general?

The Church is the first, last, and best defense against the forces of darkness. The world rises and falls around it, but the Church endures, to the ending of the world.

As someone who's done some research and some writing on the subject, I don't think a strict monarchy is necessary for the propagation of Catholic truth, or of truth in general. It may be ideal, considering that the Church itself is a kind of monarchy, but I think the Italian city-states reveal that one can avoid a monarchy and still maintain fealty to the Church's teachings.

What matters, in the end, is the Church itself. The Church, of course, does not change--the clergy, the episcopacy, and the papacy are fixed. I believe that any system of government that respects the special authority of the Church, granted to it by Christ, may be considered legitimate, whether it's a monarchy or a republic.

This necessarily means that there can be no freedom of religion as the United States understands it. The Church must have its authority in the state. There needs to be an ebb and flow, a push and pull, between the Church and the state; instead of a rigid line, there must be a flowing membrane between the two, both sides leaking into the other according to what generates the outcome most in accord with Christ's will. The real problem with the United States is its overt godlessness, which, if you look at the private writings of the Founding Fathers, was always deliberate and was intended from the beginning.

Especially with Jefferson. Fuck Jefferson.

But if you really had the sort of religious faith I describe, the kind of faith that could truly oppose Land's vision, you'd have a corresponding lack of fear, because you'd believe in victory regardless of the seeming bleakness of the odds. As Benedict XVI likes to say, God wins in the end.

Anyone can do it. You just have to find Christ and follow him to whatever end. Follow him to the exclusion of all else. Follow him, and don't let anything stand in your way. Can you do it?
