Zizek equivocates and uses the word ideology to denote something different (a fantasy which structures social reality), that he can only "explain" by going full retard on Lacanian nonsense.
Of course the ideology as understood in the regular sense can itself affect very fundamental, word-structuring beliefs, but it's nowhere near as totalizing as Zizek would need to have it for his equivocation to not be an equivocation.
The immediate social sphere is much more practical. There isn't a need for this fantasy to function within it that is so rich in content that it can accommodate an entire ideology. Elements of ideology can be specific misinterpretations of the same barebones fantasy, at most.
