Literally revolutionized the most intricate genre of literature by himself. Created characters so vivid that they dwarf characters in movies. Already has hundred of imitators. Will leave of legacy of monumental artistic achievement and speculation by not finishing his series. He likely wont be topped for many many years to come.

In the past two years GRRM has gone from the best fantasy author of all time to being compared with Hemingway in my circle of literary enthusiasts.

Its simply a fact that GRRM has utterly mastered the use of characters in a deep and complex story. He is just unmatched in that regard and it seems that his reputation is just going to keep going up and up as time continues. I can see him being regarded as the greatest American author within ten years and perhaps the greatest writer of all time within 20 years.

When you read GRRM, you literally are in the mind of whichever character is the pov for that chapter. No other author has done this with his characters and story, hes crafted them so well, and elegantly that people will be reading his works, finished or not, for many years to come, simply so that they can live out the characters in a way you can only do with one of his books.

When will GRRM release the Winds of Winter & A Dream of Spring?
