We can have this off topic thread but can’t discuss lesbians in literature?

You can try. Lesbians have written straight white males characters very well from what I’ve read.

Read a whole book on how SWMs Would write lesbians and they were all bad. Villains or just insane.

It is rather weird of the publishing industry to pretend this is in high demand.

I am a woman, and a lesbian. I care not not a bit how to sound more or less feminine by your standards. I only care about impressing a girl enough for her to give me a chance.
That title doesn’t sound like my kind of thing.

Classical interpretations of lesbianism are always portrayed as beasties, deranged or transexuals
It wasn’t until modern times that they were getting more romantic treatment.

>hints or mentions of lesbianism?
There's Shakespeare's cross-dresser comedies
It's all tragedy or farce with hetero satisfactory endings unfortunately. Till you get to the 20th century (Discounting De Sade, but that's just snuff-smut)

This book shows all of the old ones and some of the best of the more contemporary. I want to read The Passion by Winterson. (When I get a chance) Sounds cute.

All the old tropes about them being evil degenerates, or confused. Shakespeare’s cross dressers can be fun, but they end in marriage
Mostly I’d just like to see incidental characterizations

No, jackasses are fags and cold ass asexuals are dykes. These are insults. Gay has always and from its inception referred to the jolly faced homosexual man. I have no idea why someone would apply it to tomboys and butches who have been known as lesbians since before Christcuckoldry. A recent phenomenon that I wish would go away

Finished Democracy at Work by Richard Wolff
Gone Back to finish off Inseparable by Emma Donoghue
The latter gives a brief description of all the lesbian related literature going back as far as antiquities. It’s of course all tragic. No one getting out of it without suicide, getting murdered or simply switching off and being straight (or turning male!) in order to marry them off, until the twentieth century (save for Sade’s little psychopath). But so many authors have been interested in this subject it’s a wonder why more aren’t so aware of it. Well, I’m enjoying it.

Well... I’ve just now come up with it. It’s more flowered from the literary motif of the “Male Amazon” featured in the pic’s book. Not sure if you’ll like it.

A young prince leaves his struggling kingdom to open up some trade routes by delivering his sister as a possible bride. One of her handmaidens is a tall and muscular woman who also acts as the princesses bodyguard, staying very close by at all times. It is rumored that this woman is a man. This stirs the young Prince, who likes men, and likes the handmaiden even more when he sees her figh off some well armed bandits along their journey.
She is a woman though and it’s heavily implied that her and the princess are l-l-l-l lovers (no one can bring themselves to say such a thing. This all complicates things once negotiations get underway

Meh. Resolve it how you like should you accept to
