I want this to be true because I don't want to be one of these bitter, coping people who blames the world for their failures but the literary industry doesn't strike me as particularly meritocratic, it strikes me as an insanely catty and conformist clique more concerned with politics than writing. At least that's the impression I got from publishing my one (1) short story. Every single magazine, every single editor, every single other published writer were literally interchangeable.
