Post-industrial North is a truly bleak place. Every high street is a Frankenstein creation, a few nice old buildings then the rest shitey concrete monoliths thrown up in the 50s, fuck-ugly double yellow lines, pavement spattered with old people during the day because the average age is about 50-odd, then Dickensian-looking peasants spilling out the pubs in the early hours of the morning, knocking over bins and keying cars as they retreat into their brick hovels like pic related. Piss wet through with rain, just like that. On the weekend, any youth over 14 will be strewn out on drugs clutching Frosty Jack's cider bottles in their poxy bedroom with prison cell dimensions, like in some decadent opium den, any younger and they'll be roaming the streets in trackies, clinging to your trousers bellowing "Giz a fookin ciggy now mate before I get me dad on ya, giz a fag ya fookin paedo", or at least that's what they used to come out with before we started getting the Jafaican. Now they'd call you a rudeboy or sumat. Notice how shit that is and I haven't even mentioned pakis?
