Another 'cult' author I would like to hear from 'raters' of (not necessarily 'lovers' of or 'followers' of, but at least pœps who rate her as an extraordinarily good writer) is Ayn Rand. Again, I don't personally know *anyone* who is familiar with her work; but in her case I know *of* the existence of many who 'rate' her works ... and indeed more than rate them. In fact, she is quite notorious; and I have had pœps look as though they were on-point of backing away from me upon my mentioning that I take her for a genius.

I do think many, though, especially those who use her works to defend capitalism, tend to just 'pluck' sayings from her writings and brandish them - a bit like how a bossy-type christian will just pluck sayings from the bible & say "this is in the bible, therefore God said it, therefore you must obey it [which means obey me, of course]". Assuredly, the great & resourceful industrialists who are the heroes in her stories are admirable, and so are their counterparts IRL; but I think she failed to rightly perceive the way capitalism can become 'trashy' when it is primarily driven by marketing rather than by provision; so those who loft her works to tout capitalism in *any form atall* are doing a mischief, in that Ayn Rand was an advocate of rational & heroic *effort*, and that she only exalts capitalism insofar is it is the vehicle of that - *not* as an absolute doctrine.
