You have to remember the huge userbase, it attracts a lot of literal boomers (who genuinely think "Donald tRump is cheeto Hitler" is riveting political discourse) and normies (the type who enjoy dank meme compilations in the current year). This already makes the largest subs Facebook-tier. Combine that with the general goody-goody feel of the forced niceness and guaranteed no wrongthink, and it's no surprise that a good chunk of people on the large-medium communities are obnoxious candy-asses. I genuinely don't know what they find appealing about that atmosphere but clearly there's something. Maybe habit, or just preference for the layout and lack of shitposting (though again, not sure why you'd prefer either of these, I'd take occasionally creative funposting over recycled heckin Keanu bacon Avengers refuse any day).
