Just finished it and holy shit. It's redpilled, it's based, it's joy, fireworks and thunder. Great book full of meaning. Going to re-read many times.

I know school shooters are just edgy kids but that's actually kind of based and dare I say: redpilled.
But why go kill innicent kids? That's just un-manly. Could have gone to a furry convention or something.

It's unironically better told in a game. It's a good lore-fest+story but you wouldn't enjoy it if it was just written out to you. A book with similar themes like the whole self sacrifice would be pretty cool though, hmm too bad we don't have any of those oh wait kek.
Though unlike the Bible in Dark Souls the sacrifice is made so that the age of the ubermensch (the god nobility and their age of fire) can continue and only by choosing the "bad" ending can you save the plebs by becoming the dark lord of humanity. Better story than than the Bible pt2: electirc boogaloo imo.

Nietzsche hated Christian values you stupid nigger, did you get your interpretation of him from a /lit/ post instead of actually reading him? He even has an entire book, The Antichrist, where it's almost nothing but him shitting on Christianity and the values it puts forth. Christianity advances slave morality and is the entire reason why nihilism has triumphed in the first place. Christianity instructs poor people who are suffering (slaves) to detach from the world since only the after life matters, take pity on others who suffer, and love everyone, rather then instructing them to overcome the ones that make them suffer (masters) and become masters themselves. In doing so, it has completely destroyed the master morality and created a world of slaves, since most people don't want to be masters anymore and those that do are chastised.

The ubermensch is the replacement for God, since we killed him. But God in this scenario is not specifically the Christian God, but any God. Nietzsche was concerned with values and how they were created. Now historically, people couldn't just go around saying "I want you to act like x" because nobody would listen to a man. They had to say "God wants you to act like x", because how could you disagree with a god? Think of the Mormon Joseph Smith as a modern example of this. Prophets were just value-creators who preached their values through the mouth of God. But now we've killed God, nobody believes in him anymore because of Christianity, so if nobody believes in God how will value-creators instill values into the masses? Either value-creators take up the mantle of God himself as the ubermensch and preach values "because I say so" or they don't and we enter the value-less, nihilistic age of the Last Men.

Think about it more as if he is making a sociological statement. God is dead for us. We have killed him. The concept of God is no longer what it is in our civilisation, and to us as individuals, and we can't have the same recourse to it as we used to. This is a profound development.

As for the second point, consider the distinction between Grecian and Christian morality. One mistake of moral philosophers of the time, in Nietzsche's view, was to consider the distinction of egoism and altruism as intrinsic to the moral distinction between good and evil - innately, as abstract moral concepts. What he points out with the differentiation of master and slave morality is that the Homeric era didn't possess this dichotomy. Goodness wasn't necessarily altruistic, and evil wasn't necessarily egoistic. It was more related to nobility and baseness. Christianity has clouded Western civilisation's moral horizon and contributed to the moral vacuum brought about by modernity. It was inevitable, given the soil which Christian morality was planted upon (very strict notions of absolute God absolute morality, reliance on the next world as compensation for present sufferings and as supreme object of desire, the strong distinction between virtue and happiness etc.)

Can we all just agree that /his/ is the most reddit board, and therefore the worst? I go there sometimes and it's like I'm on a subreddit. I think I've seen people there unironically complain about not being able to downvote unpopular opinions. /his/ is a new board so I suppose it makes sense that it's full of tumors. /lit/ has a large enough core membership that redditors can't completely change the board culture through sheer numbers alone.

Knee-chuh. The 'chuh' doesn't have much emphasis however, almost like an exhale.

Nigh-Chee (like 'Lychee') when I'm in a meme mood.

>The man denounces chastity but then says enjoying lust is bad.

He's operating with something akin to Aristotle's Golden Mean. Chastity is, to Nietzsche, just as abhorrent as licentiousness/etc.

>Hume had the right of it: society is the only tool through which great men of all sorts are protected enough to thrive. Peer pressure in tribes is far greater, the individual far less protected. The only freedom you have more of without the state is the freedom to violence.

Nietzsche didn't believe the state should be scrapped. He saw it as a necessity, but one that Great Men/Higher Men/etc should be permitted to transcend - although he does at times imply that transcendence will occur in any case.

>The only freedom you have more of without the state is the freedom to violence.

You need to read more Nietzsche if you think he has some sort of problem with violence.

No.

In fact, the idea of Nietzsche being some sort of freedom-loving liberal/individualist is dying off, and not a moment too soon.

Beyond those who are actually familiar with Nietzsche, this isn't very significant. Normies either think he's a proto-Nazi or one of the aforementioned freedom-loving liberals/individualists.

Everything that implies the latter was written in his youth, whereas Nietzsche became more radical with age. Given that he believed philosophers should be read chronologically, old/late Nietzsche trumps young/early Nietzsche.

In a weird/coincidental way it's similar to the Quran - starts off nice, then gets radical/violent/etc. Similarly, the 'end' stuff trumps the 'beginning' stuff.

Maybe for the same reasons I hate Christians.

Read Nietzsche. Christianity says "Blesséd are the meek and weak."

It's fairly obvious how, when taken to its logical conclusion, this sort of thinking hinders Humanity.

The Prince (i.e. The only political book worth a shit)

Machiavelli and Thucydides > All

Realpolitik > Centuries of retarded idealism

>Thucydides and perhaps Machiavelli’s Principe are most closely related to me by the unconditional will not to gull oneself and to see reason in reality—not in “reason,” still less in “morality.” - Kneechuh
