Pimp.
Alot of people go for things like james Baldwin or Alice walker, but these types are just liberal fantasy bullshit. They are poor imitations of the Western style of storytelling that create an in authentic world that Europomorphizes blacks into something that doesn't capture their essence at all. Iceberg slim is probably the greatest black writer of all time because he creates narratives that speak to a uniquely black existentialism. Pimp is the best, but his other novels are good too.
