The modern office park is a neutered, harmless world with only dim facsimiles of nature sprouting amidst the chloroformed sidewalks. The people who live there are already dead. They sit in their chairs listening to recaps of the last nights shows, reading what they are told to read, eating expensive sandwiches they could have made themselves, watching shapes cast against the walls of their cave. Office parks are the inverse of a DMT trip. They are poison. They are death.

Once I saw a dead raccoon on the side of the road and no one picked it up off the ground for several days. I wonder what happened to it. Is it someones job to clean up the dead off of the street?

plugged into a a fax machine
the corporate muzak drones on
the low polygon secretary gives me a smile
an unopened cd rom sits on my desk
alone in an office without windows
in a world with no fish

that's just as bad as censoring, though. its hiding information and its forcing the allegory of the cave onto the masses.

ideas evolve, grow, or die out according to how well they can spread, which in large part depends on how much they make sense (in either a strict logical definition of the word "sense" or a spiritual/emotional/fuzzy feelings definition). when you take control over how ideas spread they are no longer spreading according to natural selection but to unnatural selection. the system will still optimize, but it will optimize according to the whims of a board of directors instead of scientists, philosophers, and humanitarians. i want a planet filled with wolves, redwoods, and giraffes not pugs and domesticated cattle.

i get your annoyance, but you should really at least look at the menu before ordering. otherwise you might come across as an idiot to the staff. that said i too have given up on most "indie" coffee shops because the lines are usually longer and the staff seems lazier. the difference in quality between craft stores and chain stores isn't as large as people claim. soulless corporations are good at what they do.

mccafe is too sweet for me. just go get a starbucks or something, it's fine for what it is.
