>ut remember, it's only a COINCIDENCE that you spend two hours a day and several thousand dollars a year on clothing and makeup and devices specifically tailored to display those body parts. It's only a coincidence. You love to do it

the fact that any contemporary third wave feminist would deny this emphatically, dismissing it as male sexual frustration, if anything reaffirms its truth value. Good post.

I'm not a big fan of Peterson's work, although I appreciate it (his non-poppsychology stuff) for its usefulness in his field. However, watching people freak out over his mostly innocuous diatribes says a lot more about society and the state of public discourse in the epoch of post-modern fragmentation than it does about his work itself. The guy is an OK psychologist but he's a brilliant social provocateur, I know the contrarians here want to hate him because of his popularity among the youtube watching eceleb worshipping crowd but I think his role as a social/intellectual actor is essential right now. I hope the NewYorker and Jacobin tier left continue to attack him, it'll only bolster his position.

I agree with the sentiment of this post OP. The problem is how this discussed online and the fact that people who share your sentiment online tend to be incel and MGTOW types allows people like this >>10740275, hopelessly addicted to their libidinal drive most likely to come in and call you a kissless virgin or incel. Sucks tbqh but I don't know what to do. The way of post-modern society is to condemn anybody who critiques sexual liberation or commodified hypersexuality as a prude, or even worse, a jealous kissless virgin. These people are selfish and think only in terms of their sensual pleasure, meanwhile individuals aren't vacuums and they have a significant impact on the death of bourgeois values and the nuclear family. The recourse of the person who knows they are "sinning" (for lack of a better word) is to accuse moralizers of being jealous. As someone who spent 4-5 years in hookup culture without taking much issue with it I'm pretty burnt out on it and somewhat emotionally damaged, humans have been mostly monogamous (inb4 some guy posts the walking marriages or some obscure ethnic free love meme society) not only for social concerns imo but because it's a lot healthier for the individual. If we weren't fully conscious I think it would be permissible to fuck like animals but we are conscious and can do better as a species.

Suffering is inescapable in the animal kingdom. Even an Emperor can get the blues. The difference between suffering and suffering well is whether you allow your coping strategy to change you into a penniless addict alcoholic living out of doors, or you emancipate yourself from your grief by according yourself to a virtue and exerting control over your days. That is the essence of Stoicism. It is not a mask. It is, at bottom, an honest endeavor and expectation of oneself.

>inb4 but Diogenes lived in a barrel, isn't that more virtuous/harder?
Diogenes rejected his society. Stoics by definition embrace their time and place.

I wonder about this question sometimes, what books would be needed to rebuilt society after a SHTF scenario. Given that this is /lit/, I >>9460078 went off the assumption that OP meant literature books and STEM/Ag/Pol etc would be intact. Still threw in some Einstein just in case. Would replace with Iliad/Odyssey/Aeneid omnibus though, and other picks still stand as necessary /lit/ tools for understanding ourselves.

Expecting cancer. Dad died at 55. I've got a fibrous mass under my left pec that hurts whenever I lean over onto it. I'm afraid to get checked out. Better to just die.

The holy spirit is literally a spirit of enlightenment. It [metaphorically] impregnated Mary and created an avatar of goodwill. Her son went on to teach the greatest, most practical philosophy we've ever known. Unlike the postmoderns or other post-Renaissance memesters, Christ's teaching made a practical purpose for desire and the selfish urge. It sublimated animal instict for a cultural revolution of extreme tolerance. Motherfucker was a hundred Gandhis. And what did the human species do with this philosophy? Monetized it, perverted it, and made "proper belief" into a cause for war. Fuck fuck fuck this species I hate you all.

This anon is more right than you may think. To all these people protesting, your attempt at creating or writing in any sense with the end goal to wealth is not art, it is "entertainment" simply. Being creative does not mean or entitle people to call the end product art.

Art, as this anon said comes from within and is made from the self, with usually the intention of "pouring your heart onto the page or canvas", but that phrase has now been bastardized with instead, simply with, "putting long hours, time and effort into a work", rather than putting yourself, you, a part of you, into the work, a sort of deep flow, that simply flows freely, not to be picked at and gouged at with a shovel to find the gold core of yourself to be profiteered.

But, as the age old discussion of what constitutes a piece of work as being "art" or not, there will probably be a slew of people whom have never really attempted to make "art" in any real attempt, but simply ingest the culture, ideas and discussion from it, commenting on what they "observe" art to truly be.
