What if the reason we don't have any great thinkers anymore is that, in the past, people had no other way of getting their thoughts out than writing them as coherently as they could in a singular book, not to mention they had no other ways of losing time alone other than reading instead of video games, tv, etc, whereas now we have social media like twitter, facebook, etc., imageboards, forums and memes, so we plaster our disorganized thoughts into memes, tweets, and 4chan posts? What if there's actually great wisdom and knowledge all over the internet but it's all fragmented over thousands of memes?

how are you supposed to understand symbolism and underlying tones if the author doesn't explain it outright?
