Based. Livy was one of a kind. Most historians of his time were also politicians who would work on it during their down time; Livy treated it as his life's work. Also, these hack historians would lightly scour through the past to cherry pick events that would bolster their own political view.
Livy, on the other hand, used philosophy as a way to interpret history not chronologically but through the patterns of characters that exist in any timeline (as an Aristotilian disciple, actions signal the agent's character).
Finally, his literary ability is untouchable.

Mainly reword what I've been reading or practicing translations. Currently taking notes on Winckelmann's Geschichte der Kunst des Altertums(Histoire de l'art chez les Anciens).
