Hello anons. I am in desperate need of help. I used to read a lot of sci-fi when I was a young lad. I loved Arthur C. Clarke and H Beam Piper, Asimov and Philip K. Dick, Heinlein, the strugatskys, Lem.

My problem is I find new sci-fi especially of the last 10 years to come in one of three categories

1. Bloated and enormous multi volume works in the 74th cycle of Autism

2. Muslim gay furry immigrants vs Trump

3. A strong and brave tale about #2 written extremely badly that won a Hugo award.

4. China Meiville

5. #1 but tied to some existing movie or game based IP.

I really just want sci fi with laser guns and the occasional earth shattering epiphany. Can anyone point me at something new and good?

Yes this is all subjective and I should probably kill myself but I'm desperate to read something new that isn't non-fiction.
