each of those topics has a detailed intellectual history that goes through the western world,so i think a better strategy would be to refine what you're interested in discovering first. keep in mind that starting points, in retrospect, are almost always arbitrary and trivial, so just dive into something interesting and keep pulling on the thread of your interest until you discover something else that carries your interest in another direction.

I get what you're saying, but would counter that you can't leapfrog the thousands of years of intellectual treatment and evolution of complex ideas like capitallism, economy, political order, etc..by statistics and quantitative analysis (which were born over time from scholars and amateurs thinking about practical solutions-for instance, a lot of basic stats came from businesspeople trying to improve brewing and commercial transactions).

Wealth of Nations may come off as archaic if you haven't read much, but would second that if you're determined to read your way through the ideas. You should also check out youtube videos for a survey of political history to hunt your next fascination
