No, since your pic disproves the idea that physiognomy is important. Sartre is butt-ugly, Jünger is aristocratically handsome, yet both writers wrote absolute cringe.

Sartre is enjoyed by faggy artfags who cannot be assed to actually make the effort to read Heidegger, and Jünger is enjoyed by edgelords who wear combat boots in the summer and listen to Sabaton.

As a corollary to my evidence, look at this goofy-ass face in my pic. This faggot wrote some of the best fiction in the last 50 years.

How are we supposed to interpret his musical interludes, which include stage directions and extra characters who pop into existence in the middle of the song and then sometimes have impact on the plot that follows the song? Are we to consider every page of his books just a farcical Looney Tunes episode, or are these bits fantasies that aren't meant to be "canon" for the story?

Where the FUCK was he during the 20 years between GR and AtD? Terrence Malick fucked off for a few decades but we know he was teaching philosophy in France and whatever else, but no one knows what Pynchon was up to? He didn't hold a teaching job or a job of any kind did he?

Can we get a Pynchon thread going?

I'm considering writing something on the boy - have read 49, am halfway through V, both of which I really enjoyed/am enjoying. However, since he's such a rare guy, pretty much anything I write on him will have to start and end with the language, right?

So - are there any authoritative biographical sources for Pynchon. AND, what is, in your opinion, the most interesting feature of his fiction, or person.

Thanks

Hello. I will be finishing Gravity's Rainbow within these upcoming days. I have just started the 4th part of the book, The Counterforce. I don't visit this board too frequently so I wanted to see what everyone here seems to think about Gravity's Rainbow, Pynchon, and his other books. I have only read The Crying of Lot 49 and Inherent Vice, but during my reading of Gravity's Rainbow, it's almost apparent that this is Pynchon's masterpiece.

"The furnace that keeps us here, as stark and concrete as the Brutalist structures strewn all over that only keep to cheapen the scintillation of spectacle from the Gothic masonry that curls and curates our vision of the Grand Architect; how the degrees and numbers unfurl into a lovingly-crafted mastery of stone, the Sheol-essence that bleeds up from the Earth’s screaming core, and hardens into the elements we seek. It’ll bleed forever. No use now in wishing the coil’s grip to lessen. The phosphorous over London will never stop falling, and the souls will never stop descending. The spider’s webs have been ravaged by cold winds, and now they cling to the periphery, clinging onto anything that will shelter them.
Serpent soul with a gilded light that will
Rectify the uncounted travesty
Of life behind sapped eyes and uncouth sin.
Flow into my core and sing your love songs.
Stem the unkind eyes that gaze down daily,
Whose scorn has flung me into a stark daze
Where I roam in an ethanol stupor,
And my face projects a plead of mercy."

So the rocket is Lucifer, and our equalization is needed to commit ourselves to a better future?

Am I a brainlet, or is my not being able to follow the weaving of the stupid number of subplots and characters this goober introduces justified?
