How much influence did Marx and Sorel have on Gentile? He insisted that Fascism is a product of Sorel and Marx, but he only makes references to them rarely. In his final book, he defended revolution and says that industrial capitalism created a fourth estate, and that the task of the modern state is to secure the place of the syndicates.

He went on to call capitalism and economic activity subhuman.

Wtf is this guy's deal?

>Fascism as a consequence of its Marxian and Sorelian patrimony . . . conjoined with the influence of contemporary Italian idealism, through which Fascist thought attained maturity, conceives philosophy as praxis.

>It is necessary to distinguish between socialism and socialism—in fact, between idea and idea of the same socialist conception, in order to distinguish among them those that are inimical to Fascism. It is well known that Sorellian syndicalism, out of which the thought and the political method of Fascism emerged—conceived itself the genuine interpretation of Marxist communism. The dynamic conception of history, in which force as violence functions as an essential, is of unquestioned Marxist origin. Those notions flowed into other currents of contemporary thought, that have themselves, via alternative routes, arrived at a vindication of the form of State—implacable, but absolutely rational—that finds historic necessity in the very spiritual dynamism through which it realizes itself.

>Anyone who speaks of communism in Italy today is a corporatist impatient about the necessary delays in the development of an idea that is the temperate correction of the communist utopia and the most logical and therefore truer statement than what one can expect from communism.

I think he is bretty good, materialism is a good method of analysis- however I don't think it can explain everything- which Marx obviously knew given the amount of Hegelian mysticism in his theory.

He wasn't a materialist because his system of logic relies on the apriori assumptions contained in Hegelian metaphysics. Marx is wrong because Hegel is wrong.

His philosophy of history is still great and his economic theory does not rely on his epistemology so it is still workable within a Marxist framework.

Both :^)

>Ultimately, Gentile foresaw a social order wherein opposites of all kinds weren't to be considered as existing independently from each other; that 'publicness' and 'privateness' as broad interpretations were currently false as imposed by all former kinds of government, including capitalism and communism; and that only the reciprocal totalitarian state of Corporatism, a fascist state, could defeat these problems which are made from reifying as an external reality that which is in fact, to Gentile, only a reality in thinking. Whereas it was common in the philosophy of the time to see the conditional subject as abstract and the object as concrete, Gentile postulated (after Hegel) the opposite, that the subject is concrete and the object a mere abstraction (or rather, that what was conventionally dubbed "subject" is in fact only conditional object, and that the true subject is the act of being or essence of the object)

The world is a construct of your consciousness. Without you, there is no world.
That's not to say materialism/science is wrong, but rather it's a tool to measure the world consciousness has created, and like all tools it's application is relative to the subject.

I am also pretty sure that quantum physics has already disproved materialism, as it is observation which creates reality.

Tl;dr the world is imagination, but your imagination is real.

Is there ever going to be an English translation of his "System of Logic"?

What even is his philosophy any how?
"You can create any world you want bro, you just have to use your thought into action, which aren't seperate at all."

He said the group was prior ontologically to the individual, but can he even be called a collectivst? He accused Liberalism of not serving individuals because it pitted the state against the individual thus keeping the individual from creating his idealist state. His contempories even accused him of solipism.

>Reality is conceivable only in so far as the reality conceived is in relation to the activity which conceives it, and in that relation it is not only a possible object of knowledge, it is a present and actual one. To conceive a reality is to conceive, at the same time and as one with it, the mind in which that reality is represented ; and therefore the concept of a material reality is absurd.
