I bought the First Law trilogy on an impulse. Was it a good choice? What am I in for /lit/? I hear that the characters are absolutely fantastic but the world a bit boring.

What is the official /sffg/ opinion on pic related.
Just finished reading it and thought it was pretty good but not amazing like some people had described it to me.

Glokta was generally my favourite POV but the other main characters were pretty decent too.

Currently close to finishing pic related. Will continue with the trilogy. Any recommendations for other fantasy books that have political machinations, scheming, the whole Machiavellian game in them?
