You need to be more critical. You've leapt from one biased source to another.
Consider the image carefully. What has The Guardian done? It certainly hasn't lied, nor has it misrepresented the truth. As the picture shows, it outright stated that it was merely due to the lack of digitisation when it came to old records. The article is biased af, but it's not WRONG. It's just presenting something which you (and I) might think of as fairly reasonable as, instead, outrageous and sad.
Then look at The Telegraph headline at the bottom, which the picture praises. It's doing the same thing. The exact same data is truthfully written, but it's presented from an angle which supports Brexit. "More than three million EU citizens apply to remain in the UK -- With only six rejected, see?". It's worth noting, at this point, that The Telegraph is very much biased to the right.
Now look at the reddit comments. Is it really obvious that they didn't read the article? Lostfourtime's comment is simply the butthurt comment of an anti-brexitfag. It doesn't contradict anything in the article, it's just salty and a bit irrelevant. Look at the other comments; do they really assert that the UK is Hitler and that nationalism doesn't exist elsewhere? There's one person who says that if you go full conspiratard it looks "a bit" like the runup to WWII. The other comments don't even mention China, Russia, or the Middle East (interesting that the author chose these countries in particular).
It's a bit overkill at this point, but now ask yourself if the twittertards are actually being gullible or simply disagreeing with the guy who created the image.
