>Studied some physiognomy during the trip: the subtle, almost imperceptible trace of experience that I saw at the corner of the mouth of a young girl. Lust etches its presence in the face as sharply a diamond.
Was Jünger a lolicon? Just how often did he study the physiognomy of young girls and see something sexual? Later he talks about girls being shown to be virgins by means of a physical exam.

>He loved Hitler
no.
he wrote a novel (on the marble cliffs, 1939) as a thinly veiled portrayal of the nazis as evil, primitive destroyers of civilization
in his war diaries he calls Hitler (under the pseudonym Kniebolo as a precaution) satanic, a demagogue, "Cainite," and tells how horrifying the atrocities he was ordering were, including against jews, in general portrays him as a mass murderer and fool bringing his country to ruin
>The greatest theft that Kniébolo has perpetrated on the nation is the theft of law—that is to say, he has robbed the Germans of the possibility of having legal rights or feeling that they have any legal recourse in response to the tribulation that is inflicted upon them, or that threatens them. To be sure, the people per se have made themselves complicit by their acclamation—that was the terrible, alarming undercurrent audible beneath the cheering orgies of jubilation. Heraclitus got to the core of the matter when he said, “the tongues of demagogues are as sharp as the butcher’s knife.” 247
>Kniébolo’s speeches are like bankruptcy hearings; in order to stall for time, the insolvent person promises to pay his creditors fantastic profits. 274
>After a period of great fasting, the German was led to the mountaintop by Kniébolo and shown dominion over the world. It did not take much urging before he was worshipping his tempter. 349

Not exactly your normal everyday guy, and not in Germany for the most part, but read Jünger's diaries. The English title is "A German Officer in Occupied Paris." In truth the majority is in Paris but there is a large section on the Eastern Front and plenty in, and about, Germany. Excellent read.
